Our Story

Dedication and Service

The Rhino Recreation Center is a multi-use facility with a focus on community building and entrepreneurial development. The operations are driven by its purpose statement, "Honor God by providing the opportunities and resources so young people can recreate the culture of the world". The overlying principles will be Christ-centered with the people attending and working at the facility understanding the Thomas Paine quote, "We have the power to begin the world anew" and also the example of Daniel in the Bible: Discipline, Dedication, Desire and Delight. The verse Isaiah 43:19, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up: do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland", speaks of the mission of the Recreation Center. Which is to "Peel away the layers of degeneration to reveal the promises of the next generation".

The Driving Principles that we will operate under are Serving, Self-Discipline, and Choice/Consequences.

Serving -  We cannot make it in the world by ourselves. We all have something to offer others. Our responsibility to society is to use those abilities and traits to help others make the most out of their lives. It is important to serve without the thought of receiving anything in return.

Self-discipline - 2 Peter 1:7 "For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline". America was founded on the idea of developing a dream or idea and then going out and accomplishing it. Some would say self-reliance. It is important to understand that you must stay true to yourself, treat others with respect and be an asset to society. This takes relying on God for guidance and staying focused on your dream, no matter how difficult it becomes 1 Peter 1:6.

Choice/Consequence - We have all been given free will or liberty, meaning we can do anything we want as long as we do not infringe upon the free will or liberties of others. Even more important is the understanding that there are consequences to our choices. We do not blame others for the outcomes and look for others to save us.

The core values that will be taught, lived and imbedded are trustworthy, hardworking ethical, responsible and friendly.

Trustworthy - When you say something, that is what you mean. A handshake means a contract.

Hardworking - When there is a job to be done it gets done in the most effective way possible. You work first and then can enjoy your time.

Ethical - This is doing what is right, even when it may cost you money or time. This is what reputations are built on and what you do when no one is watching.

Responsible - You understand the value of others time, money and possessions. You hold yourself and others accountable.

Friendly - You carry yourself with a demeanor that tells others you are happy to see them and welcome the opportunity to serve them.

The Rhino Recreation Center was developed with the belief that America is still the land of opportunity. And that self-respect and self-reliance along with a drive to persevere will take you to your dream.  But with that belief, people need the opportunity and resources to learn, develop, pursue and excel while they walk down the path that God has given them. The Rhino Recreation Center will provide the opportunity and resources to the employees and attendees of the facility to identify and pursue their passion.

The Rhino Recreation Center will be divided into five distinct areas. They will be the High school youth center, The Education/tutorial area, The Gym, The Event Center and The Entrepreneurial center. They will all be separate yet connected. I will go into a greater detailed description in the following paragraphs. I will also describe the management of the facility.

The high school youth center will be available to only kids in ninth through twelfth grades. It will consist of a room where they can purchase food, play games and socialize. It will be limited to high school kids so that they don't have to worry about dealing with younger kids and also the influence of older kids. The kitchen will sell the foods that kids like to eat. The games will also be those that kids will want to play. The idea will be to get them to form teams and get to know each other. We envision it to be something like Arnold's from Happy Days.

The Tutor/Education Center will be open to people of all ages. There will be areas for music, scholastics and general education, There will be individual rooms as well as larger group areas. Parts will have moveable walls to accommodate different needs. The idea will be to allow instructors from the outside to rent rooms for the students. We will also promote the idea of the high school kids to tutor others for a fee. Over time the facility will purchase musical instruments that can be used for instructing. This area will expand as the needs of the community change.

The Gymnasium will have two full sized basketball courts with curtains to divide the courts. It will be able to accommodate basketball, volleyball and other court activities. There will also be a stage at one end so that theater productions can be performed. This will be available to people of all ages. There will be leagues set up to generate income. The gym will also be used to hold community meals. These will be operated by the high school kids. The idea is to have them at least once a month to bring people into the facility and teach the kids to give back to the community.
